About AlertAllergy.com

Our Mission: Facilitating Information Accessibility

AlertAllergy.com is an independent, nonprofit information hub dedicated to reducing the systemic barriers individuals and families face when managing severe food allergies and anaphylaxis. We provide a centralized repository of curated, evidence-based guidance to help people navigate daily life, international travel, and long-term emergency preparedness. Our mission is information empowerment: giving users the data and tools they need to work effectively with their healthcare providers. For example, the FDA warns that food allergy reactions range up to life-threatening anaphylaxis and currently have no cure, underscoring why careful planning and guidance are crucial.

Why We Exist: Practical Navigation Meets Clinical Data

This platform arose from allergy advocacy and the real-world challenges of living and traveling for 50 plus years with a severe allergy and having more than ten different allergies affecting family members. We know a diagnosis affects more than diet—it touches social inclusion, psychological well-being, and the freedom to travel. By blending practical navigation strategies with primary clinical evidence, we offer a structured approach to safety. In practice, this means translating high-level medical guidelines into user-friendly tools and resources for settings where risk is highest (such as restaurants, aircraft, and schools).

Our Three-Pillar Approach to Accuracy

  • Evidence-Led Curation: We aggregate information from world-leading authorities. Our content comes exclusively from sources like the U.S. FDA, ASCIA, BSACI, and CSACI. AlertAllergy.com itself does not give medical diagnoses or independent treatment advice.
  • Global Perspective: We track allergy management standards across seven major jurisdictions (US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa). This ensures our travel tips and safety frameworks (e.g. local allergen labeling laws) match each region’s rules. For instance, Allergy UK notes translated allergy cards are “a useful way” to communicate food allergies in another language; our free Allergy Alert Cards support multiple languages accordingly.
  • Tech Integration & Oversight: We use modern technology to make health data accessible. Our site is mobile-responsive, and we use AI-assisted translation and summarization (for example, multilingual alert cards and AI-generated research briefs). All AI-generated content undergoes strict human editorial review (a “human-in-the-loop” policy) to ensure accuracy and alignment with the latest clinical consensus.
  • Not Medical Advice: AlertAllergy.com is strictly an informational decision-support tool, not a medical device. We are not created by, affiliated with, or agents of any healthcare provider or hospital. (No doctor–patient or professional relationship is established by using this site.)
  • General Information Only: All content (including summaries, links, and translated materials) is provided for general knowledge. It does not substitute for professional medical consultation, diagnosis, or treatment. Never ignore or delay seeking qualified medical advice because of something you read here. (As a similar resource states, this site “does not constitute medical advice”.)
  • Verify with Professionals: The science of allergy evolves rapidly. Users are solely responsible for independently verifying any information with a board-certified allergist before acting on it or changing their treatment plan.
  • Emergency Protocol: This website is not an emergency response tool. Do not use it during an active allergic reaction. If you suspect a severe reaction or anaphylaxis, call emergency services immediately (e.g. 911 in the US/Canada, 999 in the UK, 000 in Australia) and follow their instructions.

AlertAllergy.com aims to empower the allergy community by providing accurate guidance and tools—always while deferring to professional medical judgment and ensuring safe, responsible use of information.
